Microsoft Outlook 2000 Using the New Account Wizard
Start by opening Microsoft Outlook and click on 'Accounts' (Internet Accounts on some versions) under the 'Tools' menu option. The following screen should show up (see image below). You may or many not already have an email account setup, therefore, you will want to setup a new account. Click on the 'Add' button and select 'Mail...'
Following the wizard, enter in your 'Display name' and click 'Next'.

Enter in your 'E-mail address' and click 'Next'.

Enter in the information as it is listed below and click 'Next'.

Make sure you fill in your full email address under the 'Account name'. To have Outlook automatically login to your email account when you open Outlook, check the 'Remember password' box. DO NOT check the 'Log on using Secure Password Authentication(SPA)'. Then click 'Next'.

Select the connection type that you have for your Internet connection. Select 'Connect using my phone line' if you have a dial up modem or select 'Connect using my local area network (LAN)' if you are using a cable modem or are connected to a local area network. Click Next and on the next window click the finish button.

Now you will need to complete one more task before the setup is complete. Select the new account you just made and click on the 'Properties' button.

The first window you will see (see image below) is the 'General' tab. Click on the 'Servers' tab.

Check the box 'My server requires authentication' and click the 'Apply' button and then 'OK'.

That completes the setup for your email account. You are now ready to send and receive email.
